Abel

He’s not asleep, nor slumbering alone,
but is more than aware of what we’ve done to our home.

Blood has been spilled by the oldest of brothers,
Leaving heart shattering pain for our first ever mother.

And sin marches on through nations and time,
Wrecking families and cities claiming the whole world as “mine”.

But the Maker of all sent down His own Son,
To redeem and restore from the evil we’ve done.

We see evil in full when it comes naked and pure,
But somehow overlook it within, letting it softly endure.

May we confess our sins one to another,
And pray with His might with love for our brother.

Give us wisdom, O Lord, how to love, protect and fight.
Come swiftly in our darkness and by grace be our light.
