Summer Friends Forever Retreat 2010 (video)

Doing Missions when Dying (to self) is Gain. (chicken dance FAIL?)
So who doesn't know the chicken dance? If you have not been to a wedding reception, skating rink or a big sports game in the past 30 years you may not know what it is. Regardless, there are some law students at North Eastern University that now know what it is.
Last night as one of our summer missions teams from the states went out on campus to meet students they had the opportunity to meet the entire freshmen class of law students. On the spot they were asked to do something funny or do a quick show. The three guys did not know what to do but pulled the chicken dance out of their back pockets. They gave it a go but the students sitting cross legged in orderly rows on the floor did not know how to respond. It was, in their mind, an epic FAILure. Even my staff partner hung his head in disbelief. The students did not laugh, but looked somber and sat still. Our guys pretty much felt stupid, smiled, said good-bye and left the room.
Today, six of the law men were spotted by the same mission team and were asked to come play ping-pong at our student center right off of campus. They agreed and came. We had a great time with them talking, playing and laughing. When I brought up the previous nights chicken dance with the law students...they laughed pretty hard.
So...here's to you summer missions teams all over the world who are dying to your pride and doing the chicken dance and feeling stupid....let's give our lives away, even in ways that seem ridiculous....in order to gain an ear for the gospel of Jesus Christ to be declared!
Pray for these six students: Guy, Da, Tdom, Nung, K, Fluke
May God open up their hearts to his glorious great news!
Kiattisak Intisan…better known as Top
NEU2010
Today my friend Kiattisak Intisan (Top) graduated from North-Eastern University in Khon Kaen. He finished up a few months ago, moved to Bangkok to work and returned to walk today with all the graduates. Top is a believer and and a great joy to be around. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he is moving back to Khon Kaen. That is why I am posting this today, we need your prayers.
Please pray for:
1. A great job for Top so he can live in Khon Kaen and labor and love with Covenant Church Khon Kaen.
2. Top to be established and equipped as a believer while he is back in Khon Kaen.
3. God to use Top in mighty ways among the lost and believers!
Thank you!
Final TSP update
Thanks for praying and keeping up with us. We closed out the TSP last night and sent the students home on two busses. It was an awesome two weeks and I believe that God was glorified.
Five students professed faith in Christ during these two weeks. Pray for the other 20. I believe that the 30 believers that joined us are walking away with a stronger faith and some tools to help them drink deeply from the Word. Thank you for your prayers, giving, and encouragement.

Game Day on the TSP (video)
Game Day at the TSP from marc lewis on Vimeo.
During our two weeks of teaching 55 students about God, creation, Jesus, the gospel, quiet times and other things, we make time for fun. During these times relationships go deeper and doors are opened for further conversations about life and the gospel.
TSP Video (first few days)
Thanks for keeping up with us during these two weeks so far! Please watch this video and pray for our students. Keep in mind that about twenty-five of them are not Christians.

Give them Hope!
TSP Day 2
I will be highlighting a couple of things each day to help you see what we are doing during the TSP and to give you an idea of how you can pray for us.
HOPE DVD
We are showing this DVD to 30 students that are not Christians. We show about 15-20 minutes of it and then have a time of discussion. This mornings discussions were very good. The great thing about this video is that it is a walk through the bible and it has been adapted into the Thai language with Thai actors/narrators.
"There is a source of hope and help for you and me, a book unlike any other in the entire world. It is the most quoted, most published, most translated book in human history. Known as the Bible, this book was written by more than forty people from different walks of life, living over a period of fifteen hundred years. Yet, as if its authors were guided by an unseen hand, there emerges from its pages one story of eternal proportions, centered on one extraordinary character...One who would deliver the world from death. Created in cooperation with motion picture producers and distributors around the world, The Hope brings to you a powerful dramatic overview of this incredible story...a story many have called the greatest ever told."
Bible Study Methods
As you know there are many ways in which a believer can spend time with God in his word. We are trying to help the believers that have joined us to use observation, interpretation, and application. Today our focus was on observation.
These are just two of the things that we are teaching. Please be in prayer for these awesome students!
TSP are you with me?

This Saturday we will be leaving for our first two week Thai Summer Project(TSP) in the mountains of Chiang Mai, Thailand. There will be about 80 people from our staff, families, North Eastern and Khon Kaen Universities coming together to learn more about Jesus and the Christian life. Twenty-five of the students are believers and about thirty are not. This gives us the great task of being evangelists and disciple-makers.
We are asking God to draw many to himself as we share the gospel with the lost and encourage the believers to grow closer to him. We hope that many of them will begin to possess a Spirit filled desire to labor back on their campuses. Just like a ping-pong paddle rests in the hands of the one who uses it, we long to rest in God's hands to use us for his name and renown. (TSP also happens to be a ping pong paddle manufacturer) Our theme is "The Reason"...which has nothing to do with the picture above I found online earlier today that had the letters TSP. Please pray!
How to financially support the Lewis family in Thailand
I have made this post for those of you interested in helping us share our lives and the gospel in Thailand through financial giving. Please consider getting your church, sunday school classes, small groups, schools and families involved with us and the mission here. We love interacting with the global church and are greatly encouraged to know about your lives as well. We know that God may not lead you to give financially to us, but please pray for us!
Six minute glimpse into our ministry:
Retreat video from January 2010 with our students and some friends from Australia. The majority of the Thais you see in this video are not believers.
