T-Roy Welcomes Ryan Garrett to Salem (Video)

Rick Statham, my stateside pastor, asked me to put together a little something for our new youth pastor. I got T-Roy and we made this video and posted it on FB.

Christmas Autotuned

One important aspect of being a missionary is the need to be able to laugh. We do not claim to be the funniest people around, but Slade and I did have some big laughs making this song. We were pretty amazed how easy it was to do. It only took about 45 minutes to record it. 2009 will be known for many things in pop-culture and t-pain auto-tune will be one of them. Basically when you record you can use a tool to make you sing on pitch, so when you sing off pitch some it will correct it, if you have the setting turned all the way up you will get a funky computer sound. We did not use the t-pain app with i-phone, we used Garage Band on my mac for free. As you listen you will see clearly that we are not professionals, but we hope to bring you a little Christmas cheer.

FYI, we are not trying to be serious.

An Atlanta area Papa John's left a message on my skype voicemail. Oh how I would have loved to answer that call directly and give him directions here(Khon Kaen, Thailand)

win some pickled sweet and sour tamarind

Blogging is a great way for me to process the things I am reading, hearing, seeing...well, the things I am taking in each week as we live and minister in Thailand. It also helps me to stay in touch with friends and family back in the USA. In doing so I hope to encourage you along the way too. We are just about to get started on a extremely busy first term at NEU so I wanted to go ahead and put this together now. I need some feedback on how to best use this blog and have decided to have a silly drawing. Just answer these questions and you will automatically be entered into the contest. The winner will be announced right here July 1st and will have 48 hours to claim their winnings.* If you are not interested in the tamarind please enter anyways and help.

Click here to answer 3 questions**

*I think Northwest has a good deal going on now from ATL to Bangkok. Just kidding, I will need a your mailing address if you win.

**for legal matters, this is not binding, nor do I work for this candy company. It is all for fun and feedback. However, the winner will receive their goods if they follow the simple rules and then provide a correct mailing address. Sorry no PO Boxes nor dirt road addresses (the smell of the sweet pickled tamarind has been known to bring wild beasts out of the woods bringing harm to postal workers. Also, no one living in Kansas can win, just thinking of the flat endless road to Colorado makes me mad, however you could change my mind by responding to this blog entry by writing some good things about Kansas that I must have missed completely....besides the people.
